Anna Furtado, the heart of all things data in the PIETRA project, took part in the 2nd International Summer School on Cognitive Translation & Interpreting Studies.
Anna recounts: “During my MA I had always been curious of how translation happens in the mind and how linguistics, translation, and technology overlap. The Summer School on Cognitive Translation & Interpreting Studies in Cartagena (June 5-16) covered a wide range of fascinating topics such as psycholinguistics, neurolinguistics, human-computer interaction, statistics, the role of emotions in translation/interpreting and the overlap of all of these themes. It was definitely an enriching experience to learn how multidisciplinary can come together to solve complex issues. One of the most valuables takeaways was to have expert advice and tutorials on how to conduct studies on this area, paying especial attention to ethics and statistics. I absolutely loved learning about experimental setup with eye-tracking, keylogging, and screen-recording.”
