Prof. Anne O’Connor & Anna Furtado presented in Panel 19: Translating Metaphors at the 13th biennial conference on Media, Religion and Culture which was held in August 2-5, 2023 at the Center for Religious Studies (CERES) at Ruhr University in Bochum, Germany.

Their presentation focused on “Translating metaphors on social media: from historical precedent to contemporary usage”.

Prof. Anne O’Connor commented: Ruhr University Bochum and its brutalist architecture was the setting for the #ISMRC23. It was a great opportunity to share the latest findings from the PIETRA project on metaphors in religious social media. Thanks to all the organisers for a wonderful event. Among the participants was a group from the URPP Digital Religion(s) with a panel on insights and interdisciplinary perspectives of the URPP and our Digital Religion(s) assistant professor, Beth Singler.
